According to a report by Save the Children, 1 in 5 children in Scotland live in poverty, with 14% of them without at least one winter coat.
This is a sad and worrying statistic, the thought of any child not having warm clothes in the colder months is unbearable.
The Bedrock charity (based in Dunfermline, Fife) regularly visit Early Years services to provide them with help and support. Time and time again, they are asked to provide clothes to keep children warm and dry, allowing them to play out in the garden in all weathers.
In the first year of the campaign, Bedrock were able to donate a few black sacks, last year over 1,000 children across Scotland received items of warm winter clothing
